Hiring Restoration Director 2026

Nîkanêse Wah tzee Stewardship Society is seeking a collaborative and experienced Restoration Director to lead the development and delivery of a multi-year caribou habitat restoration program within Klinse-Za Park and surrounding protected areas.

Working alongside the Executive Director, Science Lead, First Nations partners, Guardians, and other collaborators, the Restoration Director will provide strategic leadership for habitat restoration planning and implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of the Society’s multi-year caribou habitat restoration program
  • Integrate Traditional Ecological Knowledge with Western scientific approaches to restoration planning and decision-making
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of habitat restoration activities
  • Build and lead the Restoration Team, and oversee RFPs, procurement, and contractor management
  • Develop funding opportunities and manage restoration grants, budgets, reporting, and program performance
  • Work collaboratively with First Nations, government, industry, local communities, and other partners
  • Represent the Society at relevant meetings, conferences, and professional networks

This is an opportunity to play a leadership role in an Indigenous-led conservation organization working to restore southern mountain caribou populations and habitat in northeastern British Columbia.

Position Details

  • Position: Restoration Director
  • Status: Permanent, full-time
  • Location: Hybrid, with frequent field visits (MacKenzie / Chetwynd / Moberly Lake, BC)
  • Salary: $90,000–$120,000, depending on qualifications and experience
  • Closing date: August 20, 2026, with applications shortlisted on a rolling basis
  • Anticipated start: Early September 2026
